This work is in good condition. One can see light craquelure along the four edges of the painting. There is no evidence of restoration under UV light.

《瓶花靜物》（拍品編號588）是沙耆藝術風格之經典，體現印象派、野獸派、表現主義和抽象主義之特徵。作品j將定向重複的筆觸如曼舞飛蝶飄散在「留白」造美的佈局中了傳統的造型觀念和構圖法則。瓶花本身就是色彩的化身，每一朵花瓣、每一片葉子都各有筆法，花朵的描繪生機美艷且輕盈有致。相對於《瓶花靜物》的秩序井然，《樹林中的馬群》用筆粗放，馬群和樹林都沒有細節描寫，而是由純鮮色塊相互交織、碰撞。狂野的用色下，每一筆卻都果敢自信、毫不含糊。沙耆在創作生涯中表現出來的頑強與超凡氣質，中西藝術神韻的融會貫通，以及其作品「道之為物，惟恍惟惚」的意象境界，不會不令真正的行家傾心陶醉。
