the watch has been well maintained since purchase in 1987. Movement in running order, but would benefit from cleaning, The dial spotted and can be cleaned case has scoffingto back from wear, unlikely that the case has recieved anything but a light polish, the gold marks retain good definition. 根據我們的研究，已知的百達翡麗8日腕錶只有四枚。其中兩枚曾出現於拍會：第一枚是此品，編號198451，而另一枚是編號198443。百達翡麗的原廠資料檔案指出兩枚均於1931年售予於洛杉磯的零售商，Brock & Co.。今天兩枚錶都沒有保留原來的錶殼。此品的機芯編號198451在離廠時錶殼編號為609409備黃金外殼和鉑金錶圈。錶殼現存之前提及的8日機芯編號198443。根據1995年份百達翡麗記錄，編號198443亦於1931年離廠備鉑金錶殼。直至今日，仍不知道該錶殼的下落。

百達翡麗8日腕錶

在已知的四枚8日腕錶中，此品是備最多寶石的，共23顆。其他的只有20至22顆。四枚手錶都鑽上數字88，毫無疑問這數值是代表8日機芯。

獨一無二的型號3655

經過廣泛的研究，沒有任何有關這令人費解的錶殼交換的解釋或澄清。根據1980年代中期的再次發現，機芯編號198451已沒有錶殼。型號3655的用法，記於此品的錶殼上，是百達翡麗對8日機芯198451的價值非常重視的指示。

獨一無二的型號3655屬於百達翡麗預留給早期內部組裝的複雜機芯的系列編號。於1980年代後期復古腕錶成為鑑賞家的追求所以此特別及迷人的系列得以製造。

此特別的系列有其餘兩款例子：型號3651及3652。型號3651是指定給百達翡麗復古計時機芯的錶殼，根據收藏家們對由靈感來自型號1463的新計時腕錶的熱切期望。由1980年代開始此型號共出產12枚。型號3652指定給早期的三問機芯，於1985年由百達翡麗組裝。此獨一無二的例子錶殼編號為2.818.356，與此品的錶殼非常接近。

此品，編號198451，首次發布於1986年的書籍，《I Signori del Tempo》，Nencini 與 Negretti著，是最早有關腕錶的書籍之一。

1995年 的發現

在紐約蘇富比1987年售出此品，大約十年後，有一重大發現，因此複雜性又再加一層。在1995年，蘇富比十分榮幸拍賣第二枚8日腕錶，備機芯編號198443及錶殼編號609409。

此腕錶為未知的百達翡麗8日腕錶提供絕好的機會，更可能備原裝錶殼及錶盤。

這假設證實不正確，這兩枚手錶的糾纏成為證據。當研究編號198443，蘇富比訂購了百達翡麗的原廠資料摘錄，在第一次8日腕錶銷售時百達翡麗還未提供此服務。品牌提供原廠資料摘錄時，驚喜隨之以來，說明錶殼編號609409並非正確地與錶芯編號198443配對。更難以置信的是錶殼編號609409其實是屬於另一枚8日腕錶編號198451由蘇富比於1987年售出，及提供於這次拍賣的此品。這豐富的資料由與百達翡麗的聯系得出而問題亦得以解決。

經過80年的神秘，機芯198451與其原裝錶殼609.409再重組令人十分難以抗拒。

無論結果如何，這次8日腕錶的拍賣很可能是收藏家最後擁有這個標誌性的百達翡麗的機會。
