拍品資料及來源

Roldan “Manok” Cruz Ventura continues to find fresh inspiration in objects commonly regarded as junk material in his new oil on canvas work Redefined. This time, his muse is that of an old piece of metal taken from a truck. What may appear as useless clutter to the community at large is in fact never a creative hurdle for Manok. Rather, it becomes the seed to which his visual sensibilities begin to flourish and bear fruit, relying on both photorealism and abstraction techniques to achieve his artistic goals.

Manok’s commitment to uncover new perspectives in viewing objects is evident in every detail of the composition. His strength lies in his ability to create works that look spontaneous by effectively hiding the meticulous attention given to each nuance during the creative process. In Redefined, Manok demonstrates his technical veracity, for every stroke, every line and every smudge of paint is well thought-out and strategically placed. He magnifies this aesthetic quality in the present canvas, exploring as many prospects and permutations as he pleases. Having complete control of his working process, the final product is always what he envisions at the start.

The title Redefined aptly captures the essence of the present painting, for a piece of scrap metal has been transformed into an enigmatic abstraction by the careful execution of strokes and the full utilization of the object’s existing rustic quality.
