羅納德·溫杜拿近期的創作概念來自島嶼，把島嶼的實體型態象徵化與抽象化。他喜愛收集圖案與符號，重疊拼貼出統一連貫的島嶼，比喻隔離狀態下的虛空。《眼瞳之地》所用圖像從其原本背景中提取出來，漂浮在畫面中。衆多色彩與形狀堆積起來，卻似無重，懸挂著無數涵意。

資本主義造成物資氾濫，繼而衍生了空虛與困惑的心靈。這脆弱的心理狀態使人孤立自己，更加深陷現代科技的漩渦。《眼瞳之地》那看似雜亂無章的圖像象徵著孤島，透露被隔離后的垮塌精神。這個具有象徵意義的孤島或許還隱喻畫家的家園。

菲律賓是世界四大海島國家之一，因地理環境影響，常年受天災威脅。溫杜拿的這幅畫有如一張地圖，概括了這種被壓迫的生活環境，及其對當今社會的影響。畫家沒有在此畫中點明觀點，圖像與符號的堆砌只帶來一陣繚繞的安寧，失重的半懸。

但《眼瞳之地》的失重只是一個騙局，它並不缺乏實體或重力，而是被另一股力量爭奪牽引著。自然界會維持其平衡，不改世間定理。但溫杜拿懶理定律，《眼瞳之地》看似懸掛漂浮，實則在緩緩挪向一個純粹、絕對的最終沉澱。
