Condition
In good condition, with light surface wear commensurate with use and age. The rubies range from a medium purple-red to a medium-deep slightly purplish red, lightly to moderately included with several examples showing abrading to the facet junctions, chipping to the girdle and/or surface reaching inclusions. The diamonds are approximately H-I color, VS-SI clarity. Gross weight approximately 38 dwts. A brooch of similar design is illustrated in 'Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art of High Jewelry, edited by Évelyne Possémé, page 149.
