華秋岳筆意縱逸駘蕩，粉碎虛空，種種神趣無不須取豪端，獨開生面，真絕技也。所見不下百餘本，無不標新領異，機趣天然，直可並駕南田，超越流輩，誠為寒谷之音，書法六朝擅三絕之勝。僑居杭州後客維揚最久，得其遺跡者維揚居多。
