石鐘山在湖口縣郭外，為彭蠡門戶當。江楚之沖，靈秀甲東南，形勝要地也。余讀坡公記，神往有年。戊寅（1698）冬，為豫章之行，舟行過石壁下，方識坡公之言不爽矣。興會所至，仿荊、關筆作此圖。庚辰（1700）三月既望，追憶舊遊點染足之，麓臺祁題。

Stone Bell Mountain, outside the city walls of Hukou County, is the gate to Pengli Lake and sits at the meeting point of Jiangxi and Huguang. The mountain’s transcendent beauty is foremost in Southeast China, and it is strategically important. Having read about it in Master Po’s account, I had longed to visit it for years. Traveling to Yuzhang in winter of the wuyin year (1698), I passed beneath its stone cliff on a boat. Only then did I realize that Master Po’s words were entirely accurate. In a flash of inspiration, I created this painting after the manners of Jing Hao and Guan Tong. On the fifteenth day of the third month of the gengchen year (1700), remembering my past journey, I finished the painting with further details. Inscribed by Lutai Qi.
