This work is generally in good condition.There are scattered hairline creases across the surface, which is consistent with the medium. Upon close inspection, there is a patch of paper loss measuring ca. 0.5cm on the lower right quadrant. Please note that it was not examined under ultraviolet light and out of its frame.

旅美中國藝術家郭楨，早於八十年代已任教於中國美術學院中國畫系，有著深厚中國水墨傳統根基，一九八六年前往紐約定居及發展至今。郭楨八十年代頻繁參與藝術展覽，《兒童的視線》正是藝術家於一九八四年的作品，見證了早年中國藝術家水墨藝術新風。作品聚焦繫著紅色圍巾的小女孩，他在人群中間悄然坐著，旁邊則有一隻羊，前面有一塊神秘的物件，四周有著放射狀的線條。作品以水墨作為媒介，摒棄了傳統水墨的山水及花鳥題材，而選擇了日常街景。雖然畫面前方的男性同樣穿著黑色短褲，但不同的鞋子，呈現了當時改革開放後的街頭新貌，令《兒童的視線》更顯其歷史意義。郭楨近年多次受邀回中國展出，包括由著名策展人高名潞策劃，於南京三川當代藝術美術館舉辦的「水墨原形」群展。
