the body divided into eight lobes encircled by double bands, the tall waisted neck rising to a slightly everted rim, set with a tall curved spout opposite an arched strap handle applied on top with a small loop for attachment to a similar loop on the concave cover, with an applied bud-form finial, all beneath a finely crackled translucent glaze of very pale blue, Japanese wood box (14)

Condition

The rim of the ewer with a hairline crack approx. 1 in. (2.5 cm) long, as well as scattered chips. The spout restored with overpainting approx. 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm) long. There is general fritting, scattered kiln grit and the expected wear to the body overall. The cover with minor wear and a small piece of kiln grit to the edge of the rim.
