Light stains could be found at the bottom of the painting, while stains and soiling could be found on the mounting. Otherwise, generally in good condition.

註:一九五○年秋冬之交,大千先生為籌備畫展一事,自旅居之印
度大吉嶺赴泰京。因事未果,他短暫盤桓即經加爾各答返抵大吉嶺。
本幅題曰「庚寅冬日,天竺荷花猶盛,泛舟加城西湖」,「加城」即稍
作勾留之加爾各答簡稱。
畫展未遂,歸國無期,惟「折花飲酒」,仍可得亂離中之偶一快事,
故筆下出此碧荷自有解語遣寂之意。
畫中出諸寫意,可窺見大千揉合八大石濤寫荷之精髓。其筆勢縱
橫,恣放中不失規嚴章法。葉塊伸張,交疊覆蓋,呈隨風捲曲飄搖
之動勢,而荷梗修長矗立,隱現於葉塊交織中,花瓣部份以銳利筆
鋒沾淡墨鈎出細緻筋紋。花瓣尖端處,則醒以濃墨帶出邊沿,花瓣
的體積感立見,物情物態之生動活潑於此畢現,這亦是借鑑清湘畫
荷特點之妙處。
全畫色調著意壓得低沉,以墨為主,調以赭石花青,惟混融調配效
果極臻微妙,交織調和,天衣無縫,色墨互滲消融於一體,輔以選
取紙張的纖維較鬆秀,筆觸掠於其上,畫面更見毛茸鬆放,發墨現
色呈蒼茫渾厚、氣息古樸之致。畫來愜意,故自許為「不可多得之一
快事也」!
