Condition

There are small practically imperciptible nibbles to the lip edge, otherwise the snuff bottle is in very good condition. The white jade is of a warmer tone compared to the catalogue illustration.

拍品資料及來源

The subject of the magnolia bud is unusual among naturalistic snuff bottles. However, see lot 138 in this sale for a set of six bottles of the same subject.

The original fissures in the pebble stone have been cleverly incorporated into the design by dictating the lines of the petals as they fold together at what would be the tip of the magnolia, forming the base of the bottle.
