of circular form with shallow sides supported on a low foot, deftly carved through the layers of rich cinnabar lacquer, depicting a scholar wearing long robe sleeping at a table in front of a garden screen next to a wine ewer and cup placed on a low table nearby, while two attendants pick up fruit from a tree, as a third attendant paddles swiftly down on a stream in a flat-bottomed boat with four large sacks, all within a key-fret border and further encircled by a composite floral scroll of hibiscus, camellia, prunus and flowering pomegranate, repeated with birds on the underside, the base lacquered in black

The dish is in overall in very good condition with typical relacquering on the rim and base to stabilize age cracks and light touch up on the foot ring.

明剔紅雕漆盤器雖常飾人物圖紋，然作回紋繞盤心一周，乃此拍品獨特之處。相類回紋邊框較多見於漆盒。一同型盤例，可能出自同一位漆藝匠人之手，亦以回紋及花卉紋環繞盤心之水岸圖，曾為 John Figgess 爵士伉儷收藏，售於倫敦蘇富比1983年12月14日，編號9。
