夏俊娜是“70後”第一個引起關注的藝術家，1995年她甫一畢業即在當時強手如林的“第三屆油畫年展”中獲銀獎，在接下來的幾年中每有新作即廣獲好評，在市場中也極受藏家歡迎，成為上世紀90年代下半期最耀眼的新星。此幅《黃昏》是夏俊娜創作最高峰時期的代表作之一，畫面唯美，用筆瀟灑，描畫出在午後慵懶適意的氛圍中，女性特有的憂鬱而柔美的氣息，充分體現出夏俊娜敏感細膩的繪畫風格和少年老成的畫面掌控能力。
