羅中立─吹渣渣
對於羅中立而言,鄉村生活簡樸而不枯燥,反而能夠突顯人類同舟共濟、相濡以沫的溫情,而這亦是他甘於留守鄉土,繼續挖掘其藝術性的源動力。《吹渣渣》取材自鄉間生活常見的一幕:山野叢林風沙甚大,行走其間容易瞇眼。在孩提時代,許多人都有父母替自己吹走眼中浸染砂子的經歷;而在農村之中,這種互相「吹渣渣」的行為,即使在年青男女之間仍然持續。
畫中人物或為兄妹、或為情侶,藝術家在此並不著意地展示他所擅長的細節寫實功力,反而淡化人物輪廓,而讓觀眾將焦點集中在人物的身體語言:男孩子粗中有細,在丁丁伐木的過程中發現女孩有灰塵進眼,立即放下工作,輕輕地為她吹掉渣子;女孩目不能視,似乎輕輕皺著眉頭,但是身體卻非常放鬆,任由男孩替他舒緩不適,兩人的身體語言表現出對彼此的充份信任。
相比城市人在豐裕物質中彼此疏離、互相傾軋,樸素的鄉村生活反而讓人與人的關係更為親密,亦因為克服大自然的挑戰而更形團結。法國寫實主義大師米勒(Jean Francois Millet)同樣熱衷於農村題材,其色彩不取明艷,而回歸鄉土本身的沉穩,在當時崇尚華麗旖旎的貴族風尚中別具一格。《吹渣渣》以黃彩為主調,除了突顯山區的乾燥荒蕪,似乎亦象徵了秋季的氣候,與樹葉落盡、叢草褐黃的背景吻合,亦為刮起風沙的情節提供合理依據,而其明亮光線之運用,亦照亮了簡樸的生活,與米勒的昏暗相比,流露一派樂觀積極。
