This work is in good condition. There is evidence of light wear along the edges of the work. There is a very minor dent at the lower right corner and hairline craquelure 8 cm from above the big cottage and a minor paint loss near the bottom right corner. There is a horizontal crease running along the top edge of the work, presumably inherent to the artist’s working method. There is no evidence of restoration under UV.

伍澤樞─新英格蘭農場
伍澤樞的風景繪畫，充份體現了歐洲畫壇自十九世紀中葉以來提倡的寫生精神。隨著顏料製作之進步，藝術家不必大費周章於工作室苦苦調配，携帶輕便工具到鄉郊採風變得可能，由此推動了巴比松畫派及印象派以降的戶外寫生風氣，揭開現代藝術之序幕。印象派不以純黑與純白入畫，強調分析自然光線下色彩的繽紛變幻，與及在畫面上之再現，縱觀伍澤樞的作品及所處時代，可知其受此影響甚深。《新英格蘭農場》所呈現的，正是一派美式田園風光，其色彩頗為豐富，利用前後景植被的多重綠色，以及各式建築物之磚瓦，使作品看起來繽紛悅目；與此同時，又利用淡灰色統一整幅作品的基調，使其綜合效果柔和協調，這種做法基本上貫徹伍氏風景作品，形成醇厚耐看的個人風格。
