Condition
This image can also be found in Photofile, pl. 48 and Peter Beard, Vol. I, p. 267
This print has not been viewed out of its photographer-specified driftwood frame, but it appears to be in generally very good condition. There is a repaired tear and small abrasion at the lower left corner which has resulted in emulsion loss where Kivoi wrote 'Hog' (for Hog Ranch) in ink.
The photographer has annotated this print with a quotation from Karen Blixen's 'Shadows in the Grass,' which reads: "What business had I, ever, to set my heart on Africa?"
