“The vast range of influence shows us Sudjojono’s capability of broadening and enhancing his aesthetic thoughts and concepts. This is the reason why I conclude that he is the pioneer of, or even the one who gave birth to, the Indonesian modern art. He has broken through the fine arts of colonial times, where the birth of modern art was nearly impossible to happen – because modern art didn’t develop among Dutch artists of the time.

Sudjojono didn’t leave everything to history, namely letting out his thoughts as a pioneer, and then leaving himself out of the subsequent development, and let historical analysis to conclude it as a paradigm later. He consciously used his capacity to change the condition, and to give birth to a new world. Therefore, Sudjojono is a historical figure who turned the course of history. He made it, because his aesthetic thoughts and concepts are politically-correct.”
