“When I travel what is interesting for me is a glance of somebody scratching themselves; the nuances, the gestures, to see a person doing something that is unusual. It's like a photograph. That split second when I see a person doing something special, I have a visual memory to capture that. As an artist, I just keep looking for subject matter. It does not have to be Asian. It is what I observe and what comes true. It is human. I look for a gesture that everybody experiences, so that they can relate to my work. That is the important thing.”
