拍品資料及來源

Abandoning figuration early in his career, Sohan Qadri devoted his life to the meditative exploration of color field theory. Known for the luminous and introspective quality of his vivid pigments and ink-and-dye technique, Qadri has been referred to as the 'pre-eminent aesthetic mystic of Modernism' by critic Donald Kuspit.

"When I start on a canvas," explains Qadri, "first I empty my mind of all images. They dissolve into a primordial space. Only emptiness, I feel, should communicate with the emptiness of the canvas," (Qadri rpt. Swati Chopra, "Tantrist-Sufi Who Paints with His Soul," Times of India, November 27, 2002).
