拍品資料及來源

Born in Gujarat in 1928, Rasik Durgashanker Raval studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai, where he received a competitive scholarship in mural painting. The fisherwomen, tribal dancers, fruit sellers, birds and animals in Raval's work are highly reminiscent of the cave paintings at Bhimbetka and the Warli painters of Maharasthra, and reveal the epic styling learnt while a student of murals. Raval was awarded the Bombay Art Society Award in 1952; the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1955; and the Academy of Fine Arts Award of Calcutta in 1957.
