明永樂 甜白釉劃纏枝蓮紋「永平安頌」僧帽壺

描述

僧帽壺寬頸,口沿呈台階狀,鼓腹,圈足略撇。流自腹而出,漸尖。另一側附曲柄,兩端作如意雲頭,柄頂與內壁之小圓繫相對。器頸劃纏枝蓮紋,口沿裏外、流及柄則綴纏枝靈芝紋。腹部張處書藏文一周,意為「日平安,夜平安,陽光普照皆平安,日夜永遠平安泰,三寶護佑永平安。」,上下飾如意雲頭與蓮瓣紋,皆雙勾框線,其內分別以折枝蓮花及靈芝作飾。通體施甜白釉,凝潤乳白。

Condition

There is a 2.5 cm. hairline crack to the rear of the rim near the handle. The spout is restored on an approx. 2 cm section at its extremity. There is a 3 cm hairline crack at the rim on one side of the spout, and two others of approx. 2 and 1 cm slightly below. There is crack encircling the base of the spout, and a small radiant firing crack on the foot ring.

僧帽壺造型,衍自藏式佛教法會所用金屬或木壺樣式。其或被置於佛壇前方,內盛供品或裝水用以淨手,參考一件年代略晚的西藏布本彩繪,描畫觀音諸神正前置一供台,其上擺放供果、花瓶、帶蓋梨形瓶及一件僧帽壺;參見《Defining Yongle. Imperial Art in Early Fifteenth-Century China》,大都會藝術博物館,紐約,2005年,圖版36(圖一)。

僧帽壺形瓷器始自元代,至明永樂一朝,因明成祖朱棣極力支持西藏佛教,僧帽壺遂成為御窰廠經典造型。永樂五年(1407),皇帝為先父先母祈薦冥福,命噶瑪噶舉派第五世活佛哈立麻於南京靈谷寺建普渡大齋,薦揚皇考太祖高皇帝、皇妣孝慈高皇后,帝躬自行香。事畢封哈立麻為「萬行具足十方最勝圓覺妙智慧善普應佑國演教如來大寶法王西天大善自在佛領天下釋教」。皇帝對其寵費優握,賞賜頗豐。明御廠故址第五層永樂堆積出土該類僧帽壺約五十餘件,應製於永樂五年前後,見有刻寫藏文、素面及錐花白瓷三種,其中如本品刻藏文僧帽壺例,應屬「普渡大齋」前後,為賞賜哈立麻之行,特令景德鎮御窰廠所製。參見《景德鎮珠山出土永樂宣德官窰瓷器展覽》,香港藝術館,香港,1989年,頁62。書中錄有一件永樂甜白釉錐花僧帽壺,編號8(),另載一件青花藏文僧帽壺例,屬明宣德器並款,出土於宣德地層,編號82。

藏文僧帽壺,為至今最為珍稀之僧帽壺品類,而更為常見的有素紋或八吉祥纏枝蓮紋樣式,究其緣故,應為難以於景德鎮尋得可將藏文書刻於瓷器之高超藝匠。本品所刻藏語祈福經文,見於《文物》,1981年,第11期,頁76,其釋文大意如下:
     日平安,
     夜平安,
     陽光普照皆平安,
     日夜永遠平安泰,
     三寶護佑永平安。


一件元代青白釉雛例,形制相同,然比例有異,出土於北京市海淀區門頭溝村一處墓葬,北京首都博物館藏,刊於《中國陶瓷全集》,上海,1999-2000年,卷11:元(下),圖版62(圖三)。元代、永樂、宣德及康熙各朝僧帽壺造型之演變,可參考耿寶昌,《明清瓷器鑑定》,香港,1993年,頁25,圖38,同書亦錄一件宣德青花例,頁45,圖75。

一件極近永樂白釉壺例,屬 Stanley and Adele Herzman 伉儷雅藏,展於紐約大都會藝術博物館,2005年,前述出處,圖版5。另見 Eumorfopoulos 典藏,售於倫敦蘇富比1940年5月30日,編號314。亦有一件,售於紐約蘇富比1982年11月19日,編號252;另可比較一件香港佳士得拍品,1991年3月19日,編號532。
