  • HISTORICAL LETTER TO BREGUET RELATING THE SUBJECT MATTER OF A PERPETUELLE WATCH BELONGING TO COUNT AUGUSTE DE TALLEYRAND, DATED JUNE 1, 1822
Manuscript from Diplomat Alexandre Daniel de Talleyrand (1776-1839), stating 'Sir, I have received the note you sent me, and I bring to your attention the fact that the first article, concerning a perpetuelle watch with repeating, given to M. Garydau, does not concern me, but rather my brother, Count Auguste de Talleyrand, Minister of His Majesty in Switzerland. As for the second, upon my first journey to Paris, I will be sure to pay you for it. '

Original manuscript with signs of aging but overall in a well preserved condition.

Auguste de Talleyrand born on February 19, 1770 was a French Diplomat sent to Switzerland during the Napoleonic era in 1808. His primary mission was to maintain the Swiss confederation under the protection of the French government. He remained at his position even after the fall of Napoléon and King's restoration in France in 1814 and was appointed Pair de France in 1815 in recognition of his work for the French. Replaced in 1823 by Clément Charles Edouard de Moustier, he died in Lombardia on October 20, 1832.
