本輯三幀作品皆藏者六十年代得於上海，俱保持當年原裱，僅編號1173之〈四美圖〉畫面略呈霉點，近日方運港重裝。林風眠畫作多不紀年，若循入藏時間推測，三幀應屬六十年代初期或五十年代後期所出，復按畫風視之，亦無訛誤。
編號1172之〈園中小憩〉構圖、處理手法及色彩運用，與上海美術家協會藏〈仕女〉相互參照，可知乃同稿所出。〈仕女〉訂為一九六二年製，故〈園中小憩〉亦屬相若時期之作。另〈園中小憩〉與編號1171 之〈雞冠花〉畫背同具以鋼筆簽英文Lin Fon Ming，即「林風眠」三字。若與林氏一九六二年八月贈法籍友人的〈簡屋毗樹〉畫背英文題款對照，樣式相同。如此情況多出於畫家為外籍人士而製，祗是〈簡屋毗樹〉乃贈別友人離滬，故略敘因由；本輯作品可能純屬購畫交易，畫背簽名即可。從參照上述客觀資料，本輯作品之創作日期下限及收藏來源亦可清晰矣！
復經畫家義女馮葉女士親自驗視此輯作品，証實英文簽名出自林氏，乃應當年外籍訂畫者要求而作。至於裝裱亦為畫家親手處理，當時物質條件並不寬裕，故用料不甚講究，以簡約節省為主。
