仲纘先生方家教正。壬午冬日。悲鴻。
鈐印：「悲鴻」、「莊敬日彊」。

上款：「仲纘」即劉含章（1880-1952），字仲纘，福建福州人，
司法界元老。畢業於京師法律學堂，二十年代末活躍於津寧司法
界，抗戰時為貴州高等法院院長，曾任多所大學法律教授，著作
頗豐。劉氏嗜畫，曾參與怡園畫集，亦好琴藝，為南京「青溪琴
社」社員。抗戰後，於南京寓所設畫會琴會，張大千、傅抱石、徐
悲鴻等名家定時聚集，以琴會畫。屢獲南北藝壇名家如陳半丁、
陳之佛等贈畫。
是畫作於四二年底，或成於悲鴻客貴陽，動身赴桂林前，而劉氏
時掌貴州高等法院。按上海市文史研究館館員呂學端憶述，抗戰
後期在貴陽獲劉仲纘介紹結識徐悲鴻，足見劉氏與徐氏已有交
情，〈奔馬〉或即成於該時期。
