A rare characteristic of this bowl is the elaborately shaped lip which may be inspired by 18th century Beijing enamelled wares produced in the Palace Workshops located within the Forbidden City. For example, see a slightly earlier, Yongzheng period, jug with a sharp-edged metal rim lid included in Gugong wenwu yuekan, no. 190, January 1999, p. 37, in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
For related spinach-green jade bowls of the Qianlong period see one sold in our New York room, 27th November 1990, lot 23, of very similar size but with a higher foot and bearing a Qianlong reign mark on the base; and another slightly smaller bowl of related shape, from the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, also sold in our New York rooms, 9/10th October 1987, lot 143.
