王廣義被譽為中國波普藝術的先驅，他從過去文革時期狂熱共產主義的宣傳海報與當今中國經濟增長、消費衝動之間找到了平衡點，創造出〈大批判系列〉，成為中國當代社會在尋求進步的同時不斷與過去掙扎的真實寫照。在二〇〇五年創作的《大批判系列︰Art No》中，兩男一女的工農兵手持刺刀、肩背步槍凝視前方，屹立於黑紅雙色的背景前。藝術家吸收了木刻版畫及剪紙的造型，巧妙地以深淺兩色描繪出傳統延安木刻版畫的視覺效果。右側士兵高舉著關節粗大的左拳，在強勁有力比例誇張的拳頭旁，一行ART NO英文字樣。此作品對應著九十年代及千禧年當代藝術的消費主義傾向，對藝術的生產及消費模式作出批判。這種批判在他二千年代中期的作品中多次成為主要題材，回應了二千年開始蓬勃起來的藝術市場，是當代中國藝術的見證。
