Condition
This sculpture is in very good condition. The various welds appear to be intact and the welds in the upper portion have been retouched with gray pigment to better match the tone of the galvanized steel. Along the bottom edge of the sculpture, there are also two areas of retouching with the same gray pigment, located in a folded triangular shape (measuring 16 in. wide by 6 ½ in. deep) on the back side as illustrated and a smaller area on the front side as illustrated in the catalogue. The welds in the lower section are not retouched with gray pigment and are a darker, brownish weld material, surrounded by the halo that is inherent to the welding process. Also on the lower section, there are a few white spots scattered overall which appear to be white paint. There are also faint ghost-like traces of long aqueous drips on the lower section, primarily on the reverse as illustrated in the catalogue.

For several years, Ultra Yahoo was displayed at Max's Kansas City, a nightclub and restaurant on Park Avenue South in New York City. Mickey Ruskin, the first owner of this work, opened the club in December 1965. John Chamberlain was among the artists, musicians and writers who gathered regularly at Max's Kansas City in the 1960s and 1970s.
