Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Upon extremely close inspection, there is a tiny nick towards the back of the top side edge. There is a minute spot of wear to the top right corner tip and a further pin-prick sized spot on the top right extreme side edge.

"I like the colour and I like the quality of cadmium red light. And then, also, I thought for a colour it had the right value for a three-dimensional object. If you paint something black or any dark colour, you can't tell what its edges are like. If you paint it white, it seems small and purist. And the red, other than a gray of that value, seems to be the only colour that really makes an object sharp and defines its contours and angles."
