of wide ogee form, the rounded sides rising to a broad everted rim, vividly painted on the interior with a rose-pink and a green five-clawed dragon, finely detailed with a fierce expression, sinuous scaly body and powerful limbs, writhing among multi-coloured clouds around a central iron-red and gilt shou medallion, the cavetto left white, the rim further decorated with eight red-crested cranes flying in different attitudes among clouds, the exterior picked out with ten iron-red bats hovering above tumultuous turquoise waves skirting the foot, the recessed base with a six-character mark within double circles in underglaze blue

There are some areas of original fritting around the foot that have been slightly polished or ground. There is some minor wear in areas to the enamels, and scattered impurities in the glaze, but overall the dish is in very good condition.
