- Rhinoceros horn
of conical form, carved round the exterior to resemble a gnarled peach tree trunk, the handle at one end formed from a wind-blown figure of Dongfang Shuo holding a fly whisk in one hand, supporting a bough laden with three peaches over his shoulder, standing beneath a flowering leafy branch that grows from one side of the interior and extends half way round the rim, above another branch that grows from the base, this one with three more large peaches, the material of a warm amber colour, wood stand

Condition
There is some typical wear and probably some light occasional polishing to the rim, but overall the rhinoceros horn libation cup is in very good condition.

此犀角盃，雕琢精美，以西漢武帝時著名文臣東方朔為題。傳說東方朔曾偷取西王母之長壽仙桃，此盃上作東方氏手握桃枝，上結果實纍纍，仙桃既已得手，東方朔面露欣喜之色。匠人為求逼真，靈活描寫其衣襟，振振似有風。東方朔偷桃而得長生不老，此一典故聞名盛行，常飾於祝壽用器與賀禮。此類作例，可見美國紐約大都會藝術博物館藏明代緙絲，飾東方朔立於桃樹旁，手捧仙桃，見於博物館網站 http://www.metmuseum.org/Collections/search-the-collections/60011659。
仇炎之與仇大雄收藏有一犀角盃，上亦飾東方朔，錄於Jan Chapman，《中國的犀牛角雕刻藝術》，倫敦，1999年，圖265，售於香港蘇富比2011年4月8日，編號2708。此品之立體圓雕風格，與另一拍品八仙圖犀角盃（編號3048）相近。
