魯迅美術學院碩士畢業的陳樹中，一直致力於寫實主義繪畫，表現鄉土人民的生活，並以「野草灘系列」在中國畫壇佔一席位，他曾在1997年獲台灣「山藝術基金會」頒發的「羅中立油畫獎學金」。除了創作，他對於藝術史和民俗學的鑽研同樣用功，尤其在鄉土文化的美學表現上，更是措意，這使他在觀察對象時別具洞見，表現方式亦深具個性。在《依依故園》中，祖籍遼寧的畫家以超現實主義手法，把家鄉土產的水果﹑生活中常見的盆栽誇張放大，凸顯當地民豐物阜，抒寫自我對於土地的熱情，觀者置身其間，亦似暢遊了一回東方的奇幻國度。
