Tate Liverpool

Tate Liverpool opened in 1988 to showcase the Tate’s national collection of British and international modern art, and stages major modern and contemporary exhibitions. Conceived as a “Tate of the North” to exist alongside London’s Tate Modern and Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool occupies a former warehouse building in the historic Albert Dock, a listed site with a rich history linked to emigration and trade, and views of the adjacent Mersey estuary. In recent years the museum has staged numerous exhibitions by modernists such as Picasso, Mondrian and Pollock as well as contemporary figures, and dynamic group exhibitions dedicated to topics from glam rock to Black Atlantic culture.
