A panoramic survey of the modern master
The Musée Picasso Paris collection comprises more than 5,000 works and tens of thousands of archival pieces spanning the entire length of Pablo Picasso’s career. The museum, which opened in 1985, is located in the 17th century Hôtel Salé—one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in the French capital. The collection is unrivaled in quality, scope and in the range of media represented. It is the only museum in the world to present both Picasso’s complete painted, sculpted, engraved and illustrated œuvre and a precise record of the artist’s creative process—through sketches, studies, drafts, notebooks, etchings in various stages, photographs, illustrated books, films and documents. There is also an opportunity to discover Picasso’s personal art collection, which includes works by Matisse, Cézanne, Braque and Miró.
