Following the launch of the Gen Art Program in 2023, this summer, Sotheby’s will present EVENT by visionary French Conceptual artist Bernar Venet, marking the artist’s debut digital art collection exploring themes of randomness and chance.
Building upon Venet's multidisciplinary art practice spanning six decades, EVENT uses algorithms & generative programs exploring the interplay of randomness and unpredictability in the digital realm, allowing collectors to instantly generate a never-before-seen output upon purchase through the artist’s algorithm. By merging his profound understanding of sculpture with the languages of science and mathematics, as well as his deep understanding of influential 20th century art movements such as Dada, Fluxus, and Minimalism, EVENT creates unique and thought-provoking generative compositions that offer new perspectives on his signature “collapses.”
The online sale will be this June 2024, with exhibition at Sotheby's New York from 24-28 June.
