For centuries, the dragon was used to represent the might and all-encompassing authority of the emperor. The powerful mythical animal of the Chinese artistic repertoire, the dragon, is reflected in the outstanding offerings this season in celebration of the Year of the Dragon as an embodiment of the Qianlong emperor, the most powerful monarch in Chinese history.
