As the retrospective dedicated to Sam Szafran at the Musée de l'Orangerie has just closed, Sotheby's is presenting an exceptional and unprecedented collection of works and memorabilia by the artist on February 15 in Paris. These works, which come from his studio, are accompanied by those with which Sam Szafran had chosen to surround himself in modern and contemporary art, signed by Picasso, Matisse, Giacometti, Miro or Zao Wou-Ki, and in the arts of Africa and from Oceania. Kept out of sight for several decades, 83 lots, 36 of which are by Sam Szafran, will be a unique opportunity to discover the intimate universe of this singular artist. A major work from a relative, the artist's most important collector, joins this exceptional collection.
