Rare Imperial Portraits of the Qing Dynasty from Dora Wong's Collection

NEW YORK | 14-20 MARCH 2024

Sotheby’s is pleased to be presenting a unique exhibition of Chinese Imperial portraits to coincide with the March Asian Art auctions in New York. The thirteen paintings were carefully collected over four decades by Dora Wong, a New York-based fashion designer with a keen eye for quality. Little was known about this category when she started collecting, enabling her to acquire some of the most important Imperial portraits in private hands.

Highlights include the only surviving Imperial portrait of Fu Heng (1720-70), the Chief Grand Councillor to the Qianlong Emperor (reigned 1735-96), and portraits of the Manchu prince and regent Dorgon (1612-50), Admiral Guan Tianpei (1781-1841) and Yunli (1697-1738), Prince Guo Yi of the First Rank.

Come see this exhibition in person from 14-20 March 2024 in New York.
