The most significant group of Aston Martin competition cars to ever come to auction is set for RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey sale, 18-19 August during the world-famous Pebble Beach Motoring week. The group is led by the first iteration of the most important Aston Martin ever built, the 1956 DBR1, chassis 1. Take a sneak peek at the legendary race car back on the track, where it previously contested such mammoth events as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring, and the Nürburgring 1000 KM, where it took overall victory in 1959 at the hands of none other than Sir Stirling Moss and Jack Fairman. DBR1/1 comes as to Monterey as the first example ever offered at public auction, with the potential to break the current record for the most valuable British car ever sold.
