Judith Neisser: Breaking the Rules of Minimalism

New York | 14 November

A cornerstone of the Chicago arts community, writer and philanthropist Judith Neisser devoted her life to the advancement of Contemporary Art. In her personal collection, she carefully selected innovative minimalist art works that broke the mold in order to arrive at a new methods of expression. The pieces in Ms. Neisser’s extensive collection trace a line through the history of 20th-century post war art, from the abstract expressionists to contemporary artists working today. Rare works from minimalist masters like Sol Lewitt, Robert Ryman, and Donald Judd are seamlessly juxtaposed with the Pop Art of Roy Lichtenstein and Cy Twombly’s visceral Blackboard series. Seeing Clearly: The Collection of Judith E. Neisser will be featured in Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening and Day Sales. (14-15 November | New York)
