Founded in 1893, Hemmerle is a fourth-generation family-run jeweler known for its one-of-a-kind creations characterized by innovative material combinations and a dedication to craftsmanship and quality. Each jewel is layered with cultural references and may be considered an original work of art. Today, Christian Hemmerle leads the company alongside his wife Yasmin and parents Stefan and Sylveli. Hemmerle’s current design philosophy was sparked in the 1990s by a client who ‘detested flashy gems’ and wore early 19th century Berlin iron jewelry. Stefan Hemmerle decided to set a diamond in a ring of iron for her. The combination of a ‘common’ metal with a precious stone was unfamiliar, yet the iron band enhanced the diamond's beauty and spearheaded a new direction for Hemmerle.
The precious 44.64 carat no-oil Colombian emerald with Mughal origins, offered here as lot 71, is set in a substantial bronze chain. The choice of bronze—a warm metal—complements the emerald’s organic, vivid color, embodying the brand's affinity for earth tones and its commitment to reinterpreting classical jewelry styles for the present day.
The Magnificent Jewels auction, presented in partnership with Marriott International's Luxury Group, will be held live on 11 December at Sotheby's New York.
