W e proudly present our new Asia flagship – Sotheby's Maison. Located at the beating heart of Hong Kong, the Maison offers a portal to a world of boundless inspiration and discovery – a journey from pre-history to present day, across more than 20 categories spanning all continents and artistic endeavours.

The first Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction at Sotheby’s Maison will take place on 11 November, followed closely by the Modern & Contemporary Day Auction on 12 November.

Headlining the evening sale will be Mark Rothko's resplendent Untitled (Yellow and Blue), the first major work to be offered by the artist in Asia and an unequivocal masterpiece of 20th century art history. Other top highlights of the auction include Zao Wou-Ki’s 02.01.65 created during the artist’s Hurricane Period and Yayoi Kusama’s Hat.

Having remained in the esteemed private collection of Dr. Ryutaro Takahashi, renowned patron of the arts and long-standing supporter of the artist, for more than two decades, Hat is an exceedingly rare and is the largest canvas featuring this particularly expressive and vivacious hat motif to come to auction.
