Winston Churchill only started painting at the age of 40 but it became an extraordinarily important part of his life. His skill was refined under the influence of artists and friends such as William Nicholson, John Lavery and Paul Maze. A number of his works will be offered in our Daughter of History: Mary Soames and the Legacy of Churchill sale in London on 17 December 2014.
