This October, Sotheby’s is honored to present Ansel Adams: A Legacy, Photographs from the Meredith Collection. This acclaimed collection is comprised of photographs selected by Ansel Adams and later gifted to the Friends of Photography, the non-profit organization that inspired a generation of photographers to pursue their passion for the medium.
One of the most significant collections of Ansel Adams photographs to come to auction, Ansel Adams: A Legacy, Photographs from the Meredith Collection is filled with pristine examples ranging from early 1960s prints to mural-sized 1970s prints. This collection is a comprehensive survey and representative cross-section of Ansel Adams’ most beloved photographs, including the iconic Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, dramatic views of Yosemite Valley, and his highly-coveted Surf Sequence from the Pacific Coast.
