A ribbon-cutting ceremony has officially marked the opening of Sotheby’s brand new gallery and office in Dubai. H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Nahyan, Minister of Culture & Knowledge Development, Sotheby’s President and CEO Tad Smith, Katia Nounou, Director, Head of Office, Sotheby’s Dubai and Sotheby’s Chairman for the Middle East Edward Gibbs hosted the occasion. The opening was marked with Sotheby’s largest and most wide-ranging exhibition in Dubai to date, bringing together worldwide highlights from the international auction calendar. Speaking at the launch, Tad Smith, Sotheby’s President and CEO, said: “This past Saturday was Sotheby's 273rd birthday, and we are proud to celebrate this and our forty years of service to clients in the Middle East. Sotheby's footprint in Dubai brings three centuries of history and expertise, and we look forward to contributing to an even greater future together."
