In March, Sotheby’s London held its first Contemporary Curated with guest curator Erdem Moralıoğlu. The celebrated fashion designer, who celebrated his eponymous brand's tenth anniversary at Sotheby's in 2015, selected works by the likes of Matthew Barney and Louise Bourgeois.

Love Ball Unites Fashion & Art at Fondation Louis Vuitton

On 6 July, the glamorous jet-set gathered at the Fondation Louis Vuittion for the fifth annual ‘The Art of Giving’ Love Ball . Under the patronage of Bernard Arnault, LVMH Chairman and CEO and Fondation Louis Vuitton President, the event featured a charity auction of contemporary art, led by Oliver Barker, Chairman of Sotheby's Europe, and raised €3.9 million for model Natalia Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation.

Celebrating Design Destination WYETH

In June, in celebration of WYETH and the opening of its new TriBeCa space, we held a dedicated sale selected from WYETH’s extensive and coveted collection. For the brand’s 20th anniversary, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Olivier Sarkozy, Eddie Borgo, Pari Ehsan and more joined WYETH co-founder John Birch and Sotheby's Jodi Pollack for a reception and preview at the new store.

Chatsworth & Gucci

This past autumn, Gucci celebrated all things quintessentially British with a new advertising campaign shot at Chatsworth, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The Gucci Cruise 2017 campaign is part of a three-year partnership between the fashion brand and Chatsworth that will support cultural activities on the estate. Sotheby’s will also sponsor the upcoming House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatworth exhibition , which runs 25 March through 22 October 2017.

“King of Vintage” Cameron Silver Pairs Fashion & Jewels

This December, Frank Everett and actor Jennifer Tilly visit Decades, the legendary house of vintage couture in Los Angeles. Cameron Silver, the shop's founder and Fashion Director, styled one-of-a-kind gowns with classic pieces from Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale in New York for a fabulous video and shoppable slideshow .

Couture Conversations with Timothy Pope

As part of our May Cocktails & Conversations series in New York, Sotheby’s Tiffany Dubin, Master Painting specialist Jonquil O’Reilly, Impressionist & Modern Art specialist Jeremiah Evarts and renowned haute couture expert Timothy Pope took part in a panel discussion drawing connections between fashion and art. Surrounded by mannequins clad in looks from the house of Schiaparelli’s most recent collections, the panelists spoke about topics ranging from Elsa Schiaparelli’s and Salvador Dalí’s close friendship to the current state of couture.

Statement Jewels and Fashion with Moda Operandi

Ater the luxury online retailer Moda Operandi opened an appointment-only atelier in a town house just off Madison Avenue in New York, Sotheby’s was delighted to co-host with them the space’s inaugural event in September. Highlights from Sotheby’s Important Jewels sale were on view alongside fresh-from-the-runway looks by Giambattista Valli and other designers, while Sotheby’s Frank Everett and Moda Operandi’s Jamie Freed were on hand to talk about the pairings.

Design for Disability

On 16 May, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation held its premiere Cerebral Palsy Foundation Design for Disability Gala at Sotheby’s New York headquarters. As the culmination of a five-month design competition between 35 FIT students, the top five finalists were paired with women with disabilities as their models and produced two outfits, which were unveiled at the Gala. The impressive roster of jurors included designer Thom Browne, the Metropolitan Museum’s Andrew Bolton and Academy Award-winning costume designer Ann Roth.

Fashion Meets Art at Sotheby's Milan

Sotheby’s Milan collaborated with Burberry to celebrate the Modern and Contemporary Italian Art sale in May. The glittering evening marked the start of Salone del Mobile and began with a lively talk, which brought Danda Santini, Editor-in-Chief of Elle Italia, together with Sotheby’s Marta Giani. Looks from Burberry’s latest collection were featured alongside contemporary artworks.

Last January, paper artist Zoe Bradley created exceptional and intricate paper sculptures for Sotheby's Of Royal and Noble Descent sale in London. Inspired by the fashion in Old Master paintings, her paper sculpture installation included a decadent wig, floral shoes and a show-stopping scarlet gown.

Anne Fontaine’s Trees in Focus Charity Auction

In 2011, Anne Fontaine combined her two passions, design and nature, with the launch of the Anne Fontaine Foundation, which promotes reforestation initiatives in Brazil. To benefit this organisation, Fontaine held Trees in Focus , a springtime exhibition and benefit auction of 32 tree-themed photographs at Sotheby’s New York.

The Fashion Forward Gala at Lobkowicz Palace

Ahead of this year’s Fashion Forward Gala , the Lobkowicz Collections invited guests to the palace to see Nothing Will Come of Nothing. Speak Again, an exhibition of works by photographer Ivan Pinkava and fashion designer Oldřich Vojta. After the viewing, Sotheby’s Jonquil O’Reilly gave a lecture on the Renaissance fashion that features in the Lobkowicz’s ancestors’ portraits in the palace collection, and the following evening at the Fashion Forward Gala guests enjoyed a performance and charity auction.

British Fashion Council’s Sensory Experience

In spring 2016, members of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Trust came to Sotheby’s London to host a multi-sensory experience alongside the Masters of Design exhibition. Actor and model Jack Guinness and award-winning perfume designer Azzi Glasser shared the inspiration and process behind Glasser’s new limited edition fragrance collection The Perfumer’s Story with the audience.
