Amidst the buzz of activity of Frieze week in London, the Contemporary Art Evening Auction took place in Sotheby's New Bond Street galleries, and was immediately preceded by the sale of works from the collection of David Teiger, whose outstanding collection of contemporary painting and sculpture drew crowds to the London saleroom. The collection was 100% sold. The evening was lead by Jenny Saville’s monumental self-portrait, Propped, which sold for £9,537,250 – breaking the auction record for a living female artist. Other highlights include Peter Doig’s Buffalo Station paintings, that sold for a combined total of £12 million, and Adrian Ghenie’s Boogeyman which soared above the pre-sale estimate to £4.9 million.
