On the first Monday in May, couture and art lovers alike bask in the most fashion-forward affair of the year: the Met Gala. And with the Costume Institute's spring 2017 exhibition being Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garçons: Art Of The In-Between – the museum’s first show focusing on a living designer since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 – expectations ran high. While few guests dared to don looks by the famously elusive and innovative designer, they did not disappoint with their jewellery choices. Classics like Cartier, Lorraine Schwartz and Fred Leighton dominated the red carpet, but contemporary pieces by Irene Neuwirth, Rihanna LOVES Chopard and others could not be missed.
