To make a space feel more interesting and layered, Timothy Corrigan looks to the past. “Almost every project that we do uses a diverse mix of elements to create rooms that look like they took generations to achieve,” the AD100 interior designer, who is currently working on the American Ambassador’s residence in Paris, as well as one of the world’s largest private yachts, told Sotheby’s. Illustrating how antiques add unparalleled depth to interiors, Corrigan selected some of his favorite pieces from Sotheby’s upcoming auctions. “I like to incorporate silver objects into roomscapes because of the wonderful luster and gleam they give off when the light reflects on them,” he said. “The details of Old Master Paintings give an added level of complexity to the room.” Ahead, discover Corrigan’s picks. –Stephanie Sporn
