S otheby’s and our Presenting Partner Citi Private Bank, both pioneers in supporting global art collectors acquire and enrich their extraordinary collections, have joined forces to present a series of events and content to celebrate Art: Beyond Borders, a program exploring and showcasing fresh perspectives in art.
As the first auction house to build a genuinely international presence Sotheby's has been a global leader in understanding the value of art for generations. Similarly, Citi Private Bank has led the way in helping their clients build, finance and protect their art collections across multiple since 1979. Their unique Global Client Service enables their global citizen clients to manage one private banking relationship across multiple regions.
The first event in the Art: Beyond Borders series was held at Sotheby's Dubai galleries, alongside an exhibition of the upcoming auctions 20th Century Art/Middle East, Arts of the Islamic World and Orientalist Paintings. Also on view was and exhibition of timepieces from the 24 March Watches sale in Dubai.
The evening also saw the unveiling of Geometry and Art in the Modern Middle East, a new ground-breaking book by Sotheby's Roxane Zand and Dr. Sussan Babaie. The book investigates the contribution of geometric art to humanity through the work of a number of renowned contemporary artists from across the Middle East.
2019 will see further events, including exclusive viewings and receptions, held in Buenos Aires, London, Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, as well as a series of five films – part of Sotheby's Anatomy of an Artwork series – which will highlight masterpieces from major art institutions.
