Marc Chagall’s Les Amoureux – a tender depiction of the artist and his beloved wife, Bella — will highlight the upcoming Impressionist & Modern Evening Sale. On 31 October, Sotheby’s and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art celebrated Chagall and his legacy with an intimate dinner and reception for family, friends and supporters. Chairman of Sotheby’s Israel Rivka Saker joined Senior International Specialist Jennifer Roth and Worldwide Director of Restitution Lucian Simmons in welcoming the dinner's honouree Suzanne Landau, director of the Tel Aviv Museum. Special guest Bella Meyer, Chagall’s granddaughter, spoke fondly of the artist and the enduring love her grandparents shared. Founder of the boutique New York florist fleursBELLA, Meyer also created the evening’s stunning arrangements, inspired by Les Amoureux. Click ahead for images from the night.
